Professional Practices for Performing Artists is a boutique lecture and mentorship series designed to support both emerging and professional creatives successfully evolve their passions into lifelong careers. 

This intensive covers detailed information on key topics including: 

  • Career goal setting
  • Brand building and marketing
  • Performance logistics
  • Career sustainability

Participating artists will receive specialized attention, and one-on-one support, in a small group setting. 

This intensive aims to provide performing artists of all genres with the tools, resources, and coaching to advance their careers.

Bellydancer, Fire Performer & Flow Artist

 YE Torres (ms. YET) is an interdisciplinary performance artist and specialty entertainer, specializing in flow arts, bellydance and fire manipulation. She holds dual BFAs in Drawing & Painting and Fashion Design from the University of North Texas and multiple dance and yoga-based certifications, including Rachel Brice's 8 Elements™ of Belly Dance Phase 3: Culmination. 

Torres is an arts educator, mentor, movement instructor, and Learning and Public Programs Manager at Contemporary Art Museum Houston. She is the Executive Artistic Director of the Renegade Carnies, a Texas based performance art and specialty entertainment collective, she co-founded in 2008. She is an established member of the East End Cultural Arts Task Force for Houston’s East End Cultural District, as well as a member of BIPOC Arts Network and Fund (BANF) Advisory & Accountability Council and a facilitator of BANF’s Arts Education Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Program. She is a Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) Spring 2024 Artist Leadership Fellow and an Artist INC Artist Peer Facilitator. 

Torres is also a Flame Effects Operator, licensed by the state of Texas, and an appointed Principal on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Special Effects (SPE-AAA) Committee. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Interdisciplinary Practice and Emerging Forms, alongside an MA in Arts Leadership at the University of Houston.
